CLASSIC HATHA YOGA // In this class postures are held for an extended period of time, focusing on the exact alignment for each individual, dependent upon their present physical capabilities, focusing on a specific rhythmic breathing pattern, and focusing attentively with the eyes for each posture, to acutely increase one’s ability to concentrate. Every posture is then alternated with repose in savasana, the corpse, or rest pose. The two-hour class concludes with approximately 10 minutes of pranayama (breath retention, or control) and a 15-minute seated silent meditation. Though the class is intense, it operates as a one-room school house, open to all levels of practitioners, from first-time beginners, to those physically challenged, to those highly advanced. Each will receive modifications appropriate to their level of practice.
VINYASA WITH ALIGNMENT // In this Vinyasa class the pace is slightly slower, allowing the student time to follow alignment cues, settle in the poses and, with practice, find harmony in the different postures (asanas). We’ll combine the flow of Vinyasa and the steadiness of Hatha to develop strength, suppleness, and focus. At the end of class, we’ll share a few minutes of meditation, the ultimate goal of yoga practice.
VINYASA YOGA // If you are just starting or have been practicing yoga for years, Vinyasa is a great addition to build upon with the mental and physical benefits of practicing yoga. Vinyasa in an active approach to yoga. The class will focus on connecting conscious breath with a vigorous and mindful flow and holding poses. Build strength, improve flexibility and develop concentration while cleansing the body and calming the mind. Expect a cardiovascular and strength building workout combined with breath work and body alignment.
SUNDAY MORNING VINYASA FLOW // We get together on Sunday mornings to let go of the past week’s stresses and refresh ourselves for the week ahead. Class starts with a gentle warm-up to get your day started right and is followed by flow to get you moving and energized. We end the class unwinding with a few restorative poses and guided meditation. Leave class feeling refreshed and ready to take on the world, or at least brunch :)
DANCE YOGA GROOVE // In this class we will get to have a jazz, modern influenced style with a touch of belly dance and Latin sensual feel. We will start with a warm up and some stretching and strengthening exercises/yoga poses, as we explore different moves to the music. We will then move into learning short combinations we can repeat and get our groove on to some fun music tunes.
BABY AND ME YOGA // Come enjoy yoga with your baby in a fun, relaxed setting. Perfect for mamas to heal their postnatal bodies and dads and caregivers to embrace a fun yoga class that babies will love. Play, stretch, laugh, and breathe! Everything goes - laughing babies, crying babies, diaper changes, crawling, new walkers. From birth to early walkers. All levels of yoga, open to parents and caregivers.
VINYASA FLOW OPEN LEVEL // This is an open level vinyasa flow class where the focus will be on linking conscious breath with moderately paced and challenging movement. Students will build strength, flexibility and focus while modifications will be offered for beginners.
KUNDALINI YOGA IN DEPTH // Kundalini yoga strives to reach higher human excellence and awareness that is wrapped up in a strong nervous system and peaceful heart. In this class we will go deep, practice strong, meditate with ease, discuss subtle energetics of your body and strengthen your connection with spirit. You will leave enriched and ready to take on challenges of your life.
MINDFUL VINYASA FLOW // A dual-purpose class to get your blood pumping while also cultivating a sense of calm, purpose and release. The class is designed to be a break from a hectic New York lifestyle and creates a safe, supportive environment to focus on self-acceptance, self-love and giving our bodies that much needed TLC! Find fluidity and movement in the body with sequencing to develop strength and flexibility.
PILATES // Pilates is a system of exercises developed by Joseph and Clara Pilates. It promotes body awareness, balance, strength, flexibility and coordination. Pilates develops core strength, as well as an overall leaner body that moves with grace and ease. It improves posture, tones muscles and strengthens the entire body. This class is designed to help you rebalance your body and restore the natural curves of your spine. While engaging the “powerhouse” muscles of the pelvis, abdomen, and back through articulation and stabilization, you can build strength, improve posture, and gain flexibility.
PILATES AND YOGA MELT // In this class we will start with a Pilates core building workout mixed with some floor bar exercises, (that comes from the dance world), to strengthen and tone our muscles. we will then incorporate our strength and hard work into a standing yoga sequences to allow ourself to move with breath and music. The class will end with us moving back to the floor as we first started, only this time we get in touch with our ability of letting go and melting our body, mind, heart and soul into a deep relaxation so we can reset our self through this mid day break, back into our busy life with a calm approach and hopefully a new perspective.
